Storm Recovery Information Line is Now Open

While the Edward King House Senior Center (EKHSC) remains closed this week as the community continues to recover from Blizzard Hernando, the Center has launched a dedicated Storm Recovery Information Line to support older adults and their caregivers in Newport and across Aquidneck Island.

The Information Line is now active at 401-846-7426, extension 1.

This resource is designed to help seniors and family caregivers navigate available information during the recovery process, including guidance on local services, recovery resources, and general support during this period of disruption.

“Although our building is temporarily closed, our commitment to the older adults of our community remains strong,” said Carmela Geer, Executive Director of the Edward King House Senior Center. “We know recovery can be overwhelming, especially for seniors, and we want to make sure no one feels alone or unsure of where to turn.”

All in-person and virtual programming, tax appointments, rehearsals, and evening programs remain postponed this week as staff focus on safe reopening preparations and community support efforts. The Center plans to resume its regular schedule next week, pending continued recovery progress.

Older adults, caregivers, and family members who need assistance navigating information or are unsure where to begin are encouraged to call 401-846-7426 ext. 1 and leave a message. Calls will be returned promptly.
